Today, I would like to talk about my topic on a paper I must do for my LIS 201 class at the University of Southern Mississippi. The topic of my paper is How the Media Influences Adolescent’s Alcohol Drinking. The paper is based on teenagers and youth today. In the paper, I basically start off talking about how advertisements of alcohol on different medias (television, social network, etc.) has influence adolescents to drink. These advertisements portray a positive sight about drinking, when in reality underage drinking has a major effect of one’s physical and mental health. After discussing the possible risk factors, I then move on to how peer influence can pressure adolescents into drinking more. The paper progress and looks into how the parents and their habits also takes a toll in how adolescents view alcohol drinking. The paper raps up by giving ways parents  and educators can limit adolescent drinking.

In this blog, I will be talking about my personal reflection on how I can across the research for my paper. In finding a topic for this paper, I figured that the world needed to know how media truly affects the lives of younger people. When starting my research, I figured that I should write about things I see daily. With that I began researching alcohol and teenage drinking. It was helpful because in another class of mine we talk about families and technology. Starting the research process was difficult at first because I had to narrow my search down to specific aspects of the topic. With the help of my school’s research data bases and google scholar, the research process began to come together. First looking into advertisements, I noticed how other researchers connected then to family drinking and peer influence. This became the background influence for my paper. After learning how many adolescents were impacted by media ads, I continued to look further into the subject and found ways to prevent this situation.
